Seamus

" Seamus" is the 5th song of the album of Pink Floyd Meddle and as the name of the Chien of Steve Marriott, a associate of Pink Floyd, as David Gilmour had sometimes keeps some at his place. Years after, the song appeared in film of Tom Stoppard Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead .

For the album Meddle

The song was written by Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright in 1971 when they realized that Seamus could japper harmonizes some with the music. They quickly wrote words and recorded a Blues so that the dog " chante" over, and David Gilmour recorded his voice. Pink Floyd added this song to their album. Moreover, a certain parasitic speech fled in the final mixing. Some say that at approximately a minute in the recording, one of the members of the group can be intended to say something of related to “It' S better than last time” or “Very theatrical”. According to Vernon Fitch, of " The Pink Floyd Encyclopedia, " the words are “Young stag is the real dog”.

Some fans who appreciate the remainder of Meddle make fun of “Seamus” to be a case of bad song - and entirely seem to have missed its humor. However, the roots Blues of the group are seldom exposed on the official recordings, and the way provides a lively recognition of the influence of the kind on their music.

For Live At Pompeii , " Miss Nobs"

The Réalisateur Adrian Maben filmed Pink Floyd in its only live performance of " Seamus" (in a slightly deteriorated, without the words, changant the agreements of D to C, and réintitulée form " Miss Nobs") in the film Pink Floyd: Live At Pompeii . To recreate the song, David Gilmour played of the Harmonica instead of singing and (exceptionally) Roger Waters played on one of the guitars of Gilmour: the Stratocaster. The members of the group were enthusiastic to include this song in film, and gave to Maben the task to find a dog which could reiterate the performance of Seamus to record the song with the Studios of Boulogne in spring of 1972. A female Afghan Gun dog called Nobs, which belonged to Madonna Bouglione (the girl of director of circus Joseph Bouglione), was brought to the studio and Wright gently cajolée it so that Nobs makes a soft howl as Seamus made in the version of the album. One can also hear a low Guitare in this recording, probably added during the mixing of the film soundtrack in another studio, but, as with much of songs of Pink Floyd, it is difficult to say which out of cheek.
