The sea of Amundsen is located in the Antarctic Ocean.

Located at the west of the Sea of Bellingshausen and at the east of the Sea of Ross, it skirts the Ground Marie Byrd, on the west coast of the the unintermitting Antarctic. She is delimited in the west by the Cape Dart and in the east by the island Thurston. The sea of Amundsen is covered most of the time by the ice-barrier.

It holds its name of the captain and exploring Norwegian Roald Amundsen which crossed it in February 1929 during its forwarding in the Antarctic of 1928-29.
