The sea of Alborán is the part of the Mediterranean located more at the west. It lies between the Spain in north, the Morocco in the south and the Straits of Gibraltar in the west.

It draws its name from the small island of Alborán, located halfway between the towns of Almeria and Melilla (Spanish enclave on the Moroccan ground).
