Scy-Chazelles is a common French located in the department of the the Moselle.
SCY (being identified with " source" of probably Gallic origin) and CHAZELLES (under the Roman occupation = Castellum = Chazelles) were joined together only in 1809 and constituted during very a long time two distinct localities.
The Mont Saint Quentin where Scy-Chazelles is located saw to organize the defense of the town of Metz and its surroundings against the invasions.
The slopes of this mount carried vine stocks which produced " Roy of Vins" in the middle of the 16th century.
The village of Scy-Chazelles does not comprise less than 13 sanctuaries (churches, vaults, cross, oratories…), but most known has been certainly the church strengthened which shelters the skin of Robert Schuman, father of Europe (1866-1963), for more than 30 years.
This church founded about 1177 and was strengthened thereafter to put the inhabitants at the shelter of the brigands and the plunderers.
The church St Remi (fine of the 6th century) is also remarkable by his architecture. It is the current parish church located place of the Esplanade opposite the town hall, which offers a panorama on the town of Metz and its neighborhoods.
