Scutosaurus
The Scutosaure was a Reptile mammalien which measured between 3 and 6 meters length and weighed extremely heavy, its robust legs and its truncated nails enabling him to support its weight. It is one of the most remote known ancestors of the tortoise.
Distribution
It lived approximately 260 million years ago, during the Permien posterior, last period of the primary era, in Siberia, then largest Deserted which never existed on Earth, the Permian period being the driest period of the primary era.
Lifestyle
The scutosaure lived in bands of several tens of individuals who thus allowed him to fight vis-a-vis the predatory ones such as the Gorgonopsien against which, only, in spite of his hard carapace, it did not have any chance to be left there alive. It was relatively well adapted to the dry conditions of the Permian era contrary to most of the animals of the Carbonifère, put at died by these extreme climates.
Food mode
The scutosaure was a herbivore which nourished only few growths which made a success of with perdurer in the Siberian desert of the Permian era . It was however not equipped with a very sophisticated digestive system and was obliged to swallow stones in order to crush its food.
