Scripte (typography)

The police forces scripte S try to imitate the manuscript writing: by doing this, they seek to suggest information on the author of the message, in addition to the contents of the message itself (trade, personality, intention, speed, etc); legibility often passes in the second plan: this is why it is to better hold the use of these police forces to short and abstract messages, even purely ludic.

Line up in the category of the scriptes, inter alia:

  • the English of Firmin Didot (1806)
  • the Dom Casual of Pete Dom (1951) for Standard American Founders
  • the Mistral of Roger Excoffon (1953)
  • the Lucida Handwriting of Kris Holmes and Charles Bigelow (1985) for Microsoft
  • ITC To fortify Hand John To fortify (1995) for Agfa Monotype

As idea of origin avoids not impression of regularity which makes a little to miss objective (to make believe that it is about a manuscript), various attempts were made to vary by chance the grease of full and with untied.
