The scripophilie consists with Collection ner the old stock exchange titles (and all documents in connection with the action S, obligation S, Emprunt S, coupon S etc…) who with dimensions, or - were not dimensioned, on a Stock Market. They thus do not have any more any quoted value. They are sometimes very decorative and are always a testimony impassioning of the economic and social Histoire of an area, a country, one time or a family. One can define the scripophile , or collector of old titles, like an economic historian. Indeed, through its collection, it preserves the memory and the traces of the last economic activity.

- The scripophilie has a historical interest , and a regional interest for the local small firms. On certain illustrated titles, one often finds an illustration of the factory, production site, of a scene of work or manufactured products, while at the same time the industrial buildings or the marketing activity of the company do not exist today any more. It is comparable with the Collection old Postcards and of Photographies.

- This type of collection has also a family or genealogical interest for those which wish to find traces of their past. Indeed, much of old titles are signed, in handwritten manner or similé FAC, by the leaders or the principal administrators of the company.

All the branches of industry were concerned with the creation of joint stock companies. Thanks to the old titles, one finds sometimes the trace of invention S brilliant or curious, at one age revolutionary, but now obsolete and fallen into the lapse of memory. Titles were emitted as of the 18th century and before, but they are very rare. The majority of the titles were emitted with XIXe and 20th century until their Dématérialisation with beginning of the year 80, especially for the periods of economic expansion of the Capitalisme.

There does not exist dimension of the old stock exchange titles. Their estimated value depends especially on the following criteria: general state of the title, goes back to emission, many emitted actions/scarcity, branch of industry/topic of collection, decoration/illustrations, etc…
