The Scriblerus Club was an abstract group literary to which belonged Jonathan Swift, Alexander Pope, John Gay, John Arbuthnot, Henry St.John and Thomas Parnell. Robert Harley took share on the occasion there, but it does not seem to have had of influence in the literary work of the already quoted authors. The club was created with an aim of making the Satire excesses of the scholarship, which gave place to the writing of the Mémoires of Martinus Scriblerus (of the word English to scribble , “gribouillor”, “minute-book”).

In the 2nd edition of the Dunciade of Pope, one also finds works allotted to Martin Scriblerus.

Richard Owen Cambridge wrote a parodic poem epic, Scribleriade , whose hero is Martinus Scriblerus.
