Scratches

Scratches is a type Video game of adventure of “point-and-click” left in 2006. It was developed by Nucleosys then published by Micro Application. The atmosphere is distressing, but ESRB evaluated the play acceptable for the children of more than 13 years.

Scenario

The player incarnates there Michael Arthate, an author of stories of horror started from London to settle in a manor in the north of England without electricity. On arrival, one starts with the exploration of the places until the night fall; what is enough obstructing when there is no electricity. During the night, it is awaked by strange noises. The following night, equipped with a lamp, Michael Arthate finds courage to go down to the cellar where curious surprised awaits it…

The player is very quickly brought to be interested in the life of the preceding occupants of the manor, the Blackwood family, which knew some disturbances after James Blackwood brought back a strange mask of his voyage to Africa.

Gameplay

Scratches plunges the player in a distressing environment which is appropriate perfectly instead of the adventure. The decorations and the light effects are realistic. It is a type Jeu of adventure of “point-and-click” which with the characteristic to use a subjective sight i.e. the player sees what the character sees and of interaction where displacements are done mainly with the mouse.

It is not a question of a set of enigmas but rather of a play of logic, research and observation. If the player finds himself blocked in the play, it is surely that it an object necessary to his progression and that it misses will have to excavate the residence and the neighborhoods to find it.

Several places must be explored during the play: the manor itself, the garden, the garage, the greenhouse and the crypt. Quite as alarming the ones as the others, each one of these places conceals an essential object or information to continue or include/understand the history.
