History

The first troop scoute, rested by the Father Yen Shit-flax with Wuchang, made its appearance in 1912, just after the advent of the République of China, and scouting was spread quickly in the country. The first national Jamboree of the Boy Scouts off Clouded in 1930 with Nankin, to which: 3575 scouts took part, was followed of a second jamboree in 1936, which accommodated: 13268 scouts of all the country. The General association of Scouts of China was officially founded in 1934, and became member of WHO in 1937.

In 1941, Scouts of China did not assert less: 570000 members. The scoutes activities were however completely stopped in 1949, when the Communists directed by Mao Zedong seized all continental China. Scouting however reconstituted in République of China (Taiwan) starting from 1950, and association continued to be member of WHO under the name of Scouts of China .

In 1974, Chuan Kai Teng accepted the Loup of bronze, only distinction of WHO, decreed for exceptional services rendered to scouting. You-hwa Shieh was honoured with the same distinction in 1976, just as Chung-Shin Chen in 1982.

Taipei accommodated in 1993 the 23ème Conférence of the Asia-Pacific area of WHO. Scouts of China accommodated in 2004 with Hualien the 12ème world elder Moot.
