Scott Speed
Scott Andrew Speed , (born the January 24th 1983 with Manteca in California), is a racing driver American. Present in Formula 1 during the seasons 2006 and 2007 before being dismissed by its stable, the Scuderia Toro Rosso, it currently tries to be reconverted into the tests of the " type; stock car" in the United States.
Biography
Beginnings
After having carried out its beginnings in karting with 10 years, Scott Speed passes to the single-seater in 2001, and becomes champion of US Formulated Russell. The following year, it disputes simultaneously the championships To bore Dodge and of US Star Mazda Series.It is at the end of season 2002 that its career takes an international turning, when it is selected by the Austrian energy drink mark Red Bull within the framework of the Red Bull Driver Search Program whose objective is to support the accession with Formula 1 of an American pilot. Red Bull sends Scott Speed in England then to dispute there the British championship of Formule 3. But the English adventure turns short for the young Speed, to which the doctors diagnose a serious disease of the intestines, which obliges it to put a premature term at its season. In 2005, Red Bull places Speed in the stable iSport in GP2. First season in F1 (2006)
At the wheel of Toro Rosso to engine Cosworth V10, the first season of Speed proves frustrating. Fault of a competitive material, it is comdamné most of the time to fight in back of the pack. Whereas it seemed acquired that Speed would dispute a second season at Toro Rosso, its employer makes last suspense throughout the winter by not registering it on the provisional list of the volunteers. Gerhard Shepherd, joint owner of the stable, expresses in particular reservations on the professionalism of its pilot. It is only on February 24th, 2007, that is to say less than one month before the beginning of the season, that Toro Rosso confirms its engagement. In addition to average performances (but of a level always comparable with those of Liuzzi), Speed is very often constrained with the abandonment, often because of problems of reliability on its car, but also at the conclusion of accidents. The climate of distrust in its connection within the stable does not cease growing, Gerhard Berger and the director of team Franz Tost not dissimulating their desire to recruit for the following season Sebastien Bourdais (invited to three recoveries with meetings of private tests) and Sebastian Vettel.
