Scott Ross

Scott Ross is a Organiste and Claveciniste American born with Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania, E. - U.) on March 1st 1951, dead the June 14th 1989 with Assas (Herault, France).

Biography

Born in a cultivated American family, of a father journalist and a mother painter and advertizing executive, Scott Ross loses his father at the five years age in 1956. He learns the Piano and the Orgue as of the six years age.

His/her mother decides to settle in France in 1964. It made there the meeting of Pierre Cochereau which encourages it to be registered, the following year, with the academy of Nice, of which he is the director. Scott Ross chooses the Clavecin like second instrument and follows the teaching of Huguette Grémy-Chauliac, which transmits to him its technique of the touch of the harpsichord.

Scott Ross works much and studies itself the Musicologie. In 1967, it enters to the Academy of organ of Saint-Maximin-the-Holy-Balsam, in the class of Michel Chapuis. It presents to the contest Bruges in 1968 and is registered in 1969 with the Conservatoire Higher National of Music of Paris. It obtains the first price of the Contest of Bruges in 1971. In 1973, Scott Ross is named part-time lecturer at the Music school of the Université Laval of Quebec, where he will teach until 1986. It will record in particular the integral of works for harpsichord and organ of François Couperin between 1981 and 1985.

Scott Ross dies in 1989 at the 38 years age of the continuations of an infection by HIV.
