Scott McKenzie

Scott McKenzie , name of scene of Philip Blondheim (January 10th 1939, Jacksonville), is an American singer known for its success " San Francisco " in 1967.

In the years 1950, it sings initially with the college with Tim Pink in the " group; The Singing Strings" then later with John Phillips, Mike Boran and Bill Cleary in the group of Doo-wop " The Abstracts". With New York, The Abstracts becomes " The Smoothies" and they record two titles with the label Decca Records.

Biography

In 1961, Philips and McKenzie meet Dick Weissman and form " The Journeymen" , which records three albums. After the scission of the group in 1964, It is question of going up the group under the name of The Mamas & the Papas. McKenzie wants to only sing, Philips then formed the group of sound dimensioned with Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot and Michelle Philips.
