Scott Joplin (November 24th 1868 - April 1st 1917) was a Pianiste and Compositeur of American Ragtime.
His/her two parents practitioner thus the music raised their children in a musical environment: his/her many brothers and sisters playing of the Guitar, the Trumpet, or singing in choral societies…
It is said that Scott was fascinated by the piano of one of its neighbors, and that it started to be involved above as of eight years. His/her father, in spite of poverty, offered a Piano and a German professor to him who initiated it very young person (being seen of its talent) with the techniques of harmony and composition.
His/her mother dies whereas it is only fifteen years old, which obliges it to find a work. It starts to play as itinerant musician through the Texas, the Louisiana and the the Mississippi, thus enabling him to meet many musicians.
Publication of “Maple Leaf Rag”, in 1899, done of Joplin one of the great figures of this new musical current, and its name became synonymous with Ragtime. It leaves six rollers of Player piano, but no recording discographic.
He dies in a psychiatric hospital of New York, on April 1st 1917, continuations of a syphilis (at the tertiary state).
