The Parti libertarien ( Libertarian Party ) is a American political party founded in 1971. It is one of the American minority principal parties, asserting more 200  000 voters and more than 600 elected officials, that is to say more than all the others third joined together parties . He regards itself as a party of mass, or according to his own definition “  a political party resulting from the peuple  ” ( “  grassroots political organization  has; ” ).

Its program consists of elements resulting from philosophy libertarienne, favorable to a minimal legislation, the Libre-échange, and strong individual freedoms.

History

Founded in 1971 in the living room of David Nolan by a group of democrats, republicans and other activists disillusioned, the Party libertarien wants to be an alternative to the old parties. The libertariens wish a greater personal freedom. They are favorable to the Homosexual marriage and against the regulation of the firearms. According to them, the economy must be déreglementée. To achieve their goals, they want to abolish the welfare state and the income taxes while reducing the other taxes.

In 1978, Dick Randolf becomes the first libertarien with being elected. This party is the third in the current voting intentions with the the United States.
