Scotland Yard is the name of the general headquarter of the Metropolitan Police Service with London. It is in 1829, creation date of the aforesaid the police force by Sir Robert Peel, that are established at Scotland Yard, behind Whitehall Place, its offices.

(Since its first removal in 1890, it bears the name of New Scotland Yard. Since 1967, its general headquarters are in Westminster, always under the name of New Scotland Yard. But one continues to generally say: Scotland Yard.)

The office of the Police superintendent of the Metropolis, i.e. the chief of the London Police force, is at Scotland Yard. The Police chief in exercise is Sir Ian Blair.
