Lisala is a locality and a territory of the province of Ecuador in Democratic republic of Congo located on Right Bank of the river Congo. It is the birthplace of Joseph Mobutu, the October 14th 1930.
The population of the territory is made up of various tribes, mainly Ngombe with minorities Mongo, Ngandi, Ngwaka and Budja.
The territory is crossed by the trunk road N6 of Is in West, and by the roads R 328, R 329, R 336, and R338. The contour of the territory is defined by the river Mongala in North and the Congo river in the South.
The area knows a strong agricultural activity, with mainly harvests of Riz, Manioc, Cacahuète, Maïs, Cacao, Café, Palm oil, Noix and rubber.
Lisala was the chief town of the province of the Means-Congo which existed of 1963 with 1966.
