Score of Malinas
The score of Malinas is a quantified evaluation which makes it possible to determine if a expectant mother soon will be confined. He was invented by Yves Malinas (death the January 20th 1997).
Within a extra-hospital framework, that makes it possible to know if the parturient will be confined in an imminent way where if there are time to transport it. It is based on five criteria: many former pregnancies, the duration of the work, the duration of the contractions, the interval enter the contractions and the loss or not of water. Each criterion is evaluated by a going number from zero to two:
The score is the sum of these five criteria. A score lower than five indicates than a transport is possible towards a maternity or a medical structure. A score of six or more indicates a threat of imminent childbirth, in particular if the parturient wants to push.
