Scopas (in Greek old Σκόπας / Skópas ), (v. 420 - 330 av. J. - C.) is a famous sculptor and Greek, native architect of Paros in the Cyclades.
He collaborated with Praxitèle and carried out part of the Mausolée of Halicarnasse. He deals with the rebuilding of the temple of Athéna Aléa with Tégée, destroyed by a fire in 395 av. J. - C. Pausanias estimates that the building “carries it of much on all the temples of the Peloponnese by its fitting and in particular by its size” (VIII, 45,4). Among the mythological subjects tackled appears hunting in the Sanglier of Calydon (pediment of frontage) and Achille against Télèphe fights it (back pediment). One probably owes him several buildings with the Sanctuaire of the Large Gods of Samothrace.
One also allots to him:
of the statues of Asclépios and Hygie to the temple of Asclépios with Gortyne, in Arcadie;
