Sclessin is a district inhabitant of Li2ege of the old commune of Ougrée.

Ougrée and thus Sclessin formed part at the beginning of the XVIII century of the Principauté of Stavelot-Malmedy. It is only in 1768 that these two entities were yielded, by the prince-abbot of Stavelot to the prince-bishop of Liege, Charles d' Oultremont in exchange of Vien and Anthisnes. The fate of Sclessin and Ougrée was going to meet thereafter, after the Révolution inhabitant of Li2ege and the annexation of the principality of Liege by France, by a decree of year IV of the republican calendar (1795), the two places are attached to the canton of Seraing, at the department of Ourthe or Ourte.

Attached to the agglomeration inhabitant of Li2ege since 1977. Sclessin, primarily industrial (iron and steel industry), is known for the stage Standard of Liege. It is difficult to think, today, that Sclessin was during many centuries an agricultural and wine village. A privileged place where, as of the XVIII century, the fortunate Inhabitants of Li2ege came to build their second residence. From this time, there remains only the term " side campagne" who indicates the zone of the district between the hill of Cointe and the railway line and some old residences.
