The statute of scientific public corporation of co-operation (EPCS) was created by the Loi of program of the April 18th 2006. It is one of the statutes which can adopt a Pôle of research and higher education (NEAR).

The purpose of this public corporation is to ensure the management of the equipment divided between the founding members and the associated members, the coordination of the activities of the doctoral schools in which take part the members, the valorization of the research activities undertaken jointly by the members and the international promotion of the pole.
