Schwytz (German Schwyz ) is the capital of the Canton of Schwytz in Suisse (country to which it gave its name).
Geography
Schwytz is located at 516 meters of altitude (principal place), at the foot of both Mythen (Large-Mythen, 1.899 m and Small-Mythen, 1.811 m), between the Lac of Lauerz and the lake of the Four-Cantons.The commune of Schwytz includes/understands the localities of Schwytz, Rickenbach, Ibach and Seewen.
History
A church mérovingienne existed at this place in VIIIe century. Older tombs alamanes were put at the day.The first document mentioning village goes back to 972.
The families von Weber, ab Yberg, Ceberg and von Reding left an aristocratic print.
