History

Schwäbisch Hall had, in centuries spent, its prosperity with a salt spring, exploited as of 600 before the Christian era, and to which it owes its name of origin " Haal in Schwaben" ( Hall in Souabe ). Since 1280 and until in 1803, the city had the statute of imperial city free. It is probably under the emperor Frederic I {{er}} (Barberousse) that one started to mint there called Heller ( Pfennigs of Hall ). These coins made starting from not very thick money sheet were of less value and knew a great diffusion by all the Empire and beyond. In 1803, with the Act of Mediation granted the Empire by Napoleon Bonaparte, Schwäbisch Hall loses its relative independence and passes to the new kingdom of Wurtemberg. Since then and until in 1936, the city is called simply " Hall".
