Schreckhorn
The Schreckhorn is the top of more than 4.000 considered by the specialists as one in most difficult of the the Bernese Alps, even of the Swiss Alps. Schreckhorn is however not more the high mountain of the Canton of Bern (4078 m), largely exceeded by its neighbor the finsteraarhorn (4274 m).
The starting point of the normal way is the refuge of Schreckhorn (2529 m), which one reaches since Grindelwald (1 034 m).
The first rise took place in 1861 with Peter Michel, Leslie Stephen, Ulrich Kaufmann and Chr. Michel.
Schreckhorn is evoked by Friedrich Schiller in Guillaume Tell (towards 628), like in a letter of Heinrich von Kleist with his/her sister.
