Schott Glaswerke AG , or more simply Schott is the name of an industrial manufacture of products in Verre of very high-quality, like the fiberoptics and the components of the flat panel displays.

The company is well-known Photographe S for the production of the components out of glass of Zeiss and of the lenses of Schneider Kreuznach, just as the filter S B+W . It also publishes the “ Schott Glass Catalog ”, which is a reference in the field of the properties of many components out of glass, produced by them and other companies.

The company was founded in 1884 with Jena, in Germany under the name Glastechnische Laboratorium Schott & Genossen by Otto Schott, Ernst Abbe, Carl Zeiss and Roderich Zeiss. It then changed name to be called Jenaer Glaswerk Schott & Genossen . After the Second world war, the company was forced to be relocated with Mainz in the West Germany, under the name Schott Glaswerke AG , after the offices in Jena were taken by the government Communiste of East Germany and becomes Jena Glaswerke VEB . After the German Reunification, Schott Glaswerke AG repurchased Jena Glaswerke VEB to become again only one and even company.

The company is also known to have invented the Verre - Céramique “Zerodur”, used in particular to make Miroir S of Télescope S, like those of NTT.
