A still young school

Created on September 26th 1990, it is in October 1991 which the first promotion between at the school, in the provisional buildings, street Marcel Sembat in Nantes. July 1st 1992, Aymeric Zublena, the future architect of the Stade de France (Saint-Denis), is selected to build the new buildings of the school. Stephan CASSEREAU is the current director. The school located in the north of Nantes at Chantrerie on the university campus of Atlanpôle is in the middle of the life coed (School veterinary surgeon, school of wood, polytechNantes, school of design). It divides its buildings with the DRIRE which is one of its partners privileged as well on the level of the research as of the insertion of its graduates.

Formation

The philosophy of the school is deeply marked by the teaching innovation. It places the student in engineering in the center of his formation: it chooses the modules which it wants to follow and which will enable him to be armed as well as possible to fill its community project. With program APA (Training By the Action), the school sets up teaching methods which make it possible the student in engineering to be placed as an actor and either as a simple spectator of the courses. The school is also partner of the operation “the hand with the paste”, which aims at promoting within the elementary school a step of scientific investigation. This operation was launched in 1996, on the initiative of the professor Georges Charpak, Nobel Prize of physics 1992.

In addition, because of a schooling over 4 years, an important place is left with in-company trainings (15 month on the totality of the schooling). Moreover, the training course of third year to the characteristic to be held abroad.

This school general practitioner proposes with his pupils to specialize in third year by the choice of various options and UV to the choice in these options:

Anecdote

When the school had to be equipped in microprocessing material, the personality of Steve Jobs and the characteristics multi-media of avant-garde of its work station, the Cube of NeXT , appeared perfectly adapted to the line of the establishment, which ordered five stations of them. An unhappy coincidence made that NeXT filed for bankruptcy little time after the delivery of the ordered material, Steve Jobs having been recalled meanwhile to the help of the company Apple.
