School of genious engineers of the industrial systems
The School of genious engineers of the industrial systems , also called EIGSI , is a school of engineers private general practitioner in Mécanique, Productique and Industrial engineering located at La Rochelle, in France, the schooling is paying there with the height of 4700 € per annum for the 2ères years and of 5250€ for the three last (tariffs 2006-2007).
It is entitled by the Commission of the titles of engineers to deliver the title of qualified engineer of the EIGSI and member of the Conférence of the Universities.
Its course is carried out in 5 years, starting from the baccalaureat. In fact this school is known as with prépa integrated . The intermediate size of promotions is of 120 pupils.
History
The school Purple
In 1850, the house then Nets (the mustard) vinegar manufacturer built with 50 rue Violet (future site of the Violet school), in Paris an electric generating plant. It is the shortly after the World Fair of 1900 that the first schools of electricity made their appearance in Paris. Private initiative was interested then in creation of specialized schools: in 1901, there existed already a school of electricity in the north of Paris.
The future Violet school appeared at the same time, under the name of École Vauban with 33 boulevard Garibaldi in the 15 {{E}} district of Paris. It is a modest test which is carried out to form of the personnel of control and the foremen. After its installation, for little time with 146 boulevard de Grenelle (15 {{E}}), the establishment is transferred 33 rue Frémicourt (15 {{E}}) in October 1902. It begins with 25 pupils and takes at this time there the final name of “School of industrial electricity and mechanics”. In 1903, the School is transported 50 rue Violet (15th). The street owes its name with Mr Jean Léonard Violet (1791-1881), one of the contractors founders of the village of Grenelle in the 15th district of Paris.
The details are rare over all this time of groping. A point remains however sure: an small group of industrialists and professors organize the courses; buildings are arranged in laboratories and workshops. In 1904, it counts 34 pupils of which some ones come from province and abroad. In 1907, road works prolong the street Frémicourt, and this new way takes the name of the current avenue Emile Zola. This same year: purple purchase with the brothers of the grounds which lead to the street of the Theater. From 1908 to 1912, the existing buildings are transformed and adapted to the needs for teaching. New constructions are undertaken and they still form the current frontage on the avenue Emile Zola, and are prolonged to the street of the Theater, on which the workshops and the offices give. In 1912, manpower is of 240 pupils.
In 1914, the war bursts, the workshop works for national defense, and manufactures the spare parts of Obus and Automobile. As from 1918, the number of pupils increases regularly and it reaches 600 in 1922.
The private establishment of higher education founded in 1902 is recognized by the State (order in Council of January 3rd, 1922). Then, by ministerial decree of January 25th, 1926, the Diplôme of electrical engineer mechanic is recognized officially. As from 1937, the examinations of admission in first year of engineers are organized under the control of the Ministre for State education, Head office of technical education. It is also in 1937, qu' a new section is created for the training of Technicians. About thirty promotions will leave this section, graduate of electromechanical Industries.
In consequence of the evolution of teaching, and with the agreement of the Commission of the titles of engineer, the programs are altered starting from 1976 to lead to:
- 1 higher special section comprising Maths Sup and Maths Spé.
- 3 years of pupils Engineer S after entrance examination.
Until 1977, manpower did not cease growing, to border 1.200 pupils. In 1978, whereas the Public limit company École Purple S.A. is owner of the buildings and the school itself, its board of directors sells the buildings at the bilingual active School and dissolves S.A. In 1979, the recruitment of new pupils - engineers is stopped, but the formation is continued until in 1982 so that the pupils engaged in this academic cycle can finish it.
Consequently the association of the former students of the EEMI decides to recreate a school of engineers estimating that the formation received by engineers EEMI deserved to be continued (after essential installations and modernizations of course). Association works out a teaching project revealing knowledge necessary and essential to an engineer of the beginning of the 21e century. The means as a personnel necessary, the corresponding constructions and equipment are defined. The whole of this information, composing the project of a new school of engineers, is proposed with several regional decision makers.
In 1989, the local government agencies of Charente-Maritime (General advice of Charente-Maritime, the Community of town of La Rochelle, in the past SIVOM, and District council Poitou-Charentes) adopt the project. November 18th 1989, together, they create the Association of management of the School (publication to OJ on December 20th, 1989). From Paris with the La Rochelle, the will of the former students and the determination of the local political powers lead to the birth of the EIGSI.
The new school: the EIGSI
New school, the EIGSI, opens its doors September 1990 and its students take possession of 12.000 m ² buildings profiting from equipment of point, and ideally located in the middle of the university pole. The EIGSI is entitled by the Commission of the titles of engineer as of July 1991.
In 1993, the first promotion of the EIGSI ( School of genious engineers of the industrial systems heiress of the EEMI-Purple School ) is graduate. After three promotions of about fifty engineers, each year sees a hundred engineers EIGSI finishing their studies and receiving the diploma of the School. This one counts 630 students today. To date (at the beginning of 2007), 7.000 Engineer S were formed either with the EEMI or with the EIGSI; among them 2.500 are in activity.
The school has vocation to train engineers general practitioners. However, a " dominante" in the formation allows “to color” this formation general practitioner, in order to give a first expertise in a field to the outgoing student in engineering. This coloring of a culture general practitioner allows then an easier integration near the companies, which are not always voluntary to train engineers general practitioners, more general-purpose than of the engineers having followed during 3 years a die specialized, but slower to start.
Dominant taught to choose during the 4th year:
- design of mechanical systems
- mecatronic
- data-processing networks and telecommunications
- energy and environment
- management and engineering of the industrial systems
The EIGSI takes part in the creation of the network " Ingéfrance" in collaboration with 3 other schools of engineers general practitioners: the ESIGELEC, HEI and EPF. It is integrated thus in the networks of the universities of engineers.
