The École of application of the armor-plated Arme cavalry (EAABC) is an establishment of formation of the Army located at Saumur (Maine-et-Loire).

History

In 1763, Louis XV reorganizes the French Cavalry via the Duke of Choiseul. A school, managed and framed by the " Royal body of Carabiniers" , was created again in Saumur to accommodate the officers of all the regiments of Cavalry. It will function until 1788.

At the end of the year 1814, Louis XVIII creates in Saumur " the School of Instruction of the Troops with cheval". Its activity going decreasing as from 1822, this school was regenerated by Charles X under the name " of Royal School of Cavalerie". A military horse-gear and a horse-gear of academy composed the main part of the structures.

From 1830, with the disappearance of the School of Versailles, Saumur becomes the only school agent of the French equestrian tradition.

The school is lodged since its origin in the district of the regiment of the police officers, splendid building of the XVIIIe century.

Its know-how is recognized in the whole world, the excellence of its art being expressed then in the Cadre Noir, formation dediéee with equestrian raising. Saumur becomes thus the French capital of horsemanship.

At the conclusion of the second world war, the Cavalry (mainly in load of the recognition) and the tanks amalgamate to give rise to the armor-plated Arme cavalry (ABC). The School of Saumur becomes the center of instruction about it.

Current mission

Its mission is to inform the personnel of the Army to the armor-plated combat and with recognition.
