School of Sunday (mormonism)

The École of Sunday is an auxiliary organization of the Église of Jesus-Christ of the Saints of the Last Days. The School of Sunday concerns any 12 year old person and more.

History

December 9th, 1849, in the morning, about thirty young people met in the house of Richard Ballantyne, in Utah, where they inaugurated the first School of Sunday. Consequently, of the Schools of Sunday organized themselves quickly in all the Mormon communities, as well abroad as in Utah. In 1867, the Union of the Schools of Sunday of the Deseret (future Utah) was organized. Today, this organization gathers all the Schools of Sunday of the Church.

Organization

The courses of the School of Sunday take place during the grouped schedules of the Sunday meetings of the Church. The purpose of they are to teach the Gospel of Jesus-Christ and are divided into classes for adults and classes for teenagers.
