Schiedamse Schie

The Schiedamse Schie is a Rivière Dutchwoman of the Holland-Southerner.

Geography

Schiedamse Schie is located between Overschie and Schiedam, where it is thrown in the Nouvelle Meuse. It constitutes the historical course of the Schie; more at the east the Delfshavense Schie and Rotterdamse Schie are located, which was dug with the Moyen-âge.

The length of Schiedamse Schie is not of 3 kilometers. Nowadays, it starts with the crossroads of the four Schie S. There is very few navigation on Schiedamse Schie; most of the professionals of the river navigation join the Meuse News via the Delfshavense Schie.

History

Towards 1250, one built a Barrage in the Schie, around of which was born the locality of Nieuwerdam , called later Schiedam . In 1264, Schiedam became independent of Overschie, then in 1275, Schiedam was set up downtown, and the inhabitants obtirent a charter of privileges, of which right to raise a Péage to the stopping in Schie. This right of toll is at the origin of the creation of the Rotterdamse Schie and Delfshavense Schie.
