Schenk
Schenk is a viticultural company whose seat is located at Rolle (Suisse).
It is the number one in Switzerland for the breeding and the trade of the wines.
History
- 1893 Foundation of the company with Rolle
- 1915 Arnold Schenk takes the head of the company at the side of his/her father-in-law Albert Rolaz
- 1919 the desire to become producer being felt, several fields are acquired at the Coast such as the Field of Martheray with Féchy, the Field of Autecour and the Castle of Châtagneréaz with Mount-on-Poker then the Castle of Vinzel. This new activity was then supplemented by other vineyards located as well at the Coast, as in Lavaux, in Chablais and in Valais
- 1943 new technologies, in spite of the economic stagnation which the second world war generated, the cellars of Rolle are renovated and increased. The authorized technical investment made these most modern installations of the time since it made it possible in particular to ensure the treatment of the wine by the cold or heat, sterilization, pasteurization, the setting in bottles, etc
- 1945 Consécutivement with the rationing of the food products imposed by the war, the marketing of a grape juice rich in sugar met a need and the company Grapillon SA was founded in December 1944 with Rolle with for task the development and the conditioning of the grape juice. If these particular conditions supported its launching, it was later obvious that this drink owed only with its only virtues the favors of the market. Since 1949, Grapillon even started to be exported towards various countries.
- 1952 the expansion of the group is directed towards Italy with the creation of Schenk Italia S.p.A. in Reggio Emilia (Emilie-Romagna) then in Venice, to be established finally in 1961 close to Bolzano in Ora/Auer
- 1953 It son of Arnold Schenk, Pierre (born in 1912) takes the management of the firm
- 1961 Incorporation of the house Obrist SA (founded in 1854) in the group Schenk
- 1962 Deaths of Arnold Schenk
- the 1964-1994 international distribution, with Schenk GMBH in Germany, which gathers today the activities of importation and distribution of wines in Germany.
