Schempp-Hirth Ventus
The Schempp-Hirth Ventus is a Planeur manufactured by Schempp-Hirth between 1980 and 1994. It replaced the Schempp-Hirth Minis-Nimbus. IIl was conceived by Klaus Holighaus.
The Carbon fiber had become less expensive and thus the wing was entirely manufactured in Carbon fiber. A new meaner profile was developed. In addition to the version 15 meters, extensions of wing were developed to increase the scale with 16,6 meters. Two sizes of fuselage were produced, Ventus has is the narrow version and Ventus B is the broader version. Winglet S was added on many versions has and B. best the smoothness in version 15 meters is of 44, and with the version 16,6 meters, the smoothness passes to 46 (50 according to certain sources).
As well has, as B have the system of mixing shutter/air-brake like Glasflügel 303 Mosquito and the Minis-Nimbus, but later Ventus a.c. equipped with air-brakes with conventional pallets. The ends (tips) optional in Ventus C can prolong (to extend) the amount of time with 17,6 meters (16,6 meters in the one and of the versions B). A certain Ventus Bachelor and Cs are adapted
Ventus gained the two championships of the World of sailplane. Ventus has and B acquired a reputation of sailplane high-speed, at the expense of some unpleasant characteristics of behavior. The behavior was improved on the model C.
More than 613 Ventus has and B and an indefinite number of Ventus C was manufactured, they were replaced in 1995 by the Schempp-Hirth Ventus 2.
