Scarsellino
Scarsellino or Ippolito Scarsella (Ferrare, 1550 or 1551 - Ferrare, 1620) is a painter Italian mannerist of the school of Ferrare.
Biography
His/her father was Sigismondo Scarsella, painter with Ferrare.He travelled everywhere to Italy and was subject to multiple influences in particular of the Venetian school and locally of Dosso Dossi.
He lived 4 years in Venice about 1570 without it being known if he were attached to any workshop.
He worked with the brothers Carracci with the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrare.
A great number of its works is with the Galerie Borghese of Rome: the Bath of Venus, Diane and Endymion, Venus and Adonis
The bombardment of Dresden destroyed two of its fabrics: the Escape in Egypt and the Holy Family.
