Analyzes

Scars of Dracula mark a return to the sources of the myth of the vampire, described again like an aristocrat with doubtful hospitality and the Gothic framework which is clean for him. Chronologically, no reference brings closer this episode to any other of the series. Only the recurring character of Dracula ensures a constant in the saga. As a whole, the film constitutes more a " Remake " synthesizing various already exploited elements that a true continuation.

the scars of Dracula is, on this subject, the last adaptation in costumes by the Hammer of the novel of Bram Stoker, before the continuation of the series does not plunge its character within a contemporary framework, with in 1972, Dracula 73 , and in 1973, Dracula always lives in London , two achievements of Alan Gibson.

Critical

A lack more and more shouting of means on the level of the budget is felt here unfortunately. A deplorable bat attached to an often visible cable thus makes him lose much of its credibility, as much as the disastrous special effects of the final destruction of Dracula.

On the other hand, a relatively neat atmosphere, the posted sadism of certain scenes and its some visual lucky finds (Dracula climbing along a wall), are worth to him still a place in the heart of the fans of the series.
