Scandisk
Scandisk was a utility of checking of disc which succeeded CHKDSK (for Check Disk) starting from version 6 of MS-DOS.
Versions for Windows (Scandskw.exe) also were born, but CHKDSK returned under Windows and it would seem that it is for good, with the detriment of Scandisk.
It is useless to copy Scandisk since CD of Windows 9X or diskettes of MS-DOS towards the file system32 of Windows 2000 or Windows XP, unless the hard drive is formatted in FAT32, because this utility does not take charges NTFS with it.
However, Scandisk for MS-DOS functions perfectly with diskettes 3,5, still and always supported by the current versions of Windows. But, as it is known as higher, one needs CD of Windows 9X or diskettes of MS-DOS to make such a copy of software.
It is also useless to copy Scandisk for Windows (Scandskw.exe) in Windows 2000 or Windows XP, whatever the filing system of the hard drive. Only version DOS of Scandisk is compatible with these two systems.
