Scallop

The scallop (scientific name Pecten maximus ) is a Mollusque Bivalve. With unequal shells, it is easily recognizable by a valve higher completely punt and equipped with coasts. It is of red color to brown, some pink or mottled time. Denomination

The name “scallop” is a name of use and a trade name. Since 1996, OMC authorized the use of this denomination for others pectens that maximus , but also of the close kinds, like chlamys , argopecten or placopecten , i.e. Pétoncle S or Vanneau X.

In France, the scallop is the first produced not transformed to profit from a label Rouge (2002), it acts of the shell: Normandy Freshness Sea.

Fish

Its fishing is strictly regulated in France, where it is not authorized, that from October 1st to May 15th by ministerial decree.
