Scabious
Galeuse (or Pigeonnet of Armor ) is the name of a variety of Pomme originating in North Finistere.
The Galeuse apple tree produces apples with knife crunching, good, of good conservation, and a beautiful color striated with red. This apple tree owes its name with the fact that, the adult stage, it presents on its branches of the Broussin S resembling Galle S, roughcast small points which are germs of root S, which enables him to be very easily cutting. It is enough to plant at the good season a well lignified branch one year or two bearing Galle to obtain a Bouture.
This variety can also be used as Porte-greffe with other varieties because its setting with fruit is fast. In Understock, its strength is estimated between MM106 and the Franc.
Culture
Of average strength, the adult tree reaches a height of approximately 4 meters and presents a falling down port. The Scabious one can be grafted itself on the understocks, such, for example, the MM27, EM9, MM106 or the Franc. One obtains larger and tastier fruits then. The tree is sensitive to the Oïdium and the lanigerous Puceron (particularly on its Wales) but resists relatively well the Tavelure of the apple tree and the Carpocapse.
