Saxophone sopranino

The saxophone sopranino is a Musical instrument transposing instrument of the family of the saxophones (it is smallest and acutest of the family). Its Tonalité is in Mi \ flat . It sounds a octave with the top of the Alto saxophone.

It is used rather little if it is not in Quintette or other Ensemble of Saxophones. Its bad reputation is related to its accuracy difficult to obtain. The sopranino in F creates by Adolphe Sax is not used more today. The partition of the bolero of Ravel mentions a saxophone sopranino in F, but it is a Soprano saxophone which is generally used in the place.

In jazz, the sopranino is used by certain instrumentalists, like Anthony Braxton, Roscoe Mitchell, Paul McCandless, Lol Coxhill or Christophe Monniot.
