Saxony-Anhalt
The Land of Saxony-Anhalt ( German Sachsen-Anhalt in ) is one of the German Länder composing the Germany. Capital: Magdeburg of a surface of 20447 km2 and a population of 2,4 million inhabitants.
Geography
The state is especially a plain used for agriculture with in south-west the oriental party of the mountains of the Harz. The principal river is the Elba which goes from south-east to the North-West. The second more important river, the Saale, is an affluent of Elba.

Until 2003 Saxony-Anhalt was divided into three areas; Dessau, Market and Magdeburg but from now on basic division are the 21 districts and the three cities named above.
History
Territory of Germany Eastern made up in 1947 by fusion of the Land of Anhalt and the province of Prussian Saxony. Maintained in 1949 at the time of the constitution of the German Democratic republic, it was removed in 1952 and was divided into two districts (Halle, Magdeburg).

Saxony-Anhalt is re-elected for the multitude of its museums, its monuments of varied architectures and for the refinement of its gardens. One still finds there many small Romance churches and large Gothic cathedrals, as in Magdeburg, Naumburg and Halberstadt. Another architectural heritage is represented: the Bauhaus , with Dessau for example. Close to this city is also, the largest park of Germany, the Dessau Wörtlitzer Gartenreich , a garden with English.
- One finds in Saxony-Anhalt much prehistoric sites like the Cercle of Goseck or the Disque of Nebra. These sites, recently discovered, ensure an international repute today to him.
