A single trade union: Mandement of Savines-the-lake
History
The word Mandement is synonymous with territory. In this geographical space, the Co-lords of Savines (then the single lord) exerted their powers. The limits do not coincide with those of the current Canton. In this soil, several communities of inhabitants, little by little, became independent, keeping initial dependence a certain use as pastures and wood. So the Community rules and uses result more from the mountain constraints and historical gravity that of an deliberate intention.
The “Mandement de Savines”, which covered the totality of the Seigniory of the same name, set up in Marquisat by Louis XIV in January 1715, included/understood the Communes of Savines, Réallon, Prunières, Puy-Saint-Eusèbe and Saint-Apollinaire (Hautes-Alpes). These communes had into undivided the pastoral mountains and the forests located on their territory. The seniority of Mandement is attested by an act of May 1235 by which it is combined, considering the insecurity of times, with the inhabitants of Embrun. We especially know the life of this association of communes by the fights and the lawsuits which it carried out to preserve its originality and its properties against its neighbors: Spray in 1297, Crots for the forest of Magnane, the royal field in… 1699… 1733… etc…
However of many difficulties having emerged between the common partners for the pleasure of the pastures, as of 1885 several projects of divisions were elaborate. That of 1884 not having been accepted by all the communes, the business was carried in front of the Council of Prefecture then in front of the Council of State, which returned its decree the February 9th 1906. An final agreement intervened the October 8th 1909 which regulates the litigation and fixes the “Mandementaux Statutes”, the forests remain into undivided within Mandement, but the pastoral mountains are allotted to the communes by drawing lot.
The commune of Réallon receives the mountains of “Loads” and “the Balsam”, the communes of Prunières, Puy-Saint-Eusèbe and Saint-Apollinaire (Hautes-Alpes) the mountains of “Gardette” and Savines the mountains of “Old Saddle” and “Reyssas”. Thus is explained the fact that Savines-The-Lake has pastures on the territory of the commune of Réallon.
Today
Today, the “Trade union of the Communes of Mandement of Savines-The-Lake”, has approximately 965 ha in the forests of Morgon, Sellette and Pre Martin, and half of the forest of Magnane of a surface of approximately 432 ha, undivided with the commune of Crots. These forests exploited and subjected to the forest Régime are managed with the assistance of ONF (National office of the forests). The distribution between the communes of the wood sales for these forests is done each year, according to the treasury available in the following way which did not change since the origins. Savines-The-lake 4/12, Réallon 4/12, Prunières 2/12, Puy St Eusèbe 1/12 and St Apollinaire 1/12. For the forest of Magnane the distribution breaks up as follows: Crots 12/24, Savines-The-Lake 4/24, Réallon 4/24, Prunières 2/24, St Apollinaire 1/24 and Puy St Eusèbe 1/24.

The Church
Devoted the July 15th 1962, the parish church of Savines-The-Lake has as a holder Saint-Florent, bishop of Orange (Life century), just like the medieval church (XI - XIIIè century) located at the locality the Parish, on Right Bank of the Durance; and the church of the XIXè century, devoted in 1834, shaven in 1961, left bank. Work of the architect Achille de Panaskhet, the building of stone, concrete and flagstones of glass, falls under space, at the top of the agglomeration. Image of a ship, cross with the prow, with its load of symbols and direction.Of the unit, marked by the evolution of a Sacred art, without total rupture with the past, certain lines of the building inherited the past, but especially the discrete use of the symbolic system of the perfect triangle for the roof and the ceiling of the nave returns to the Holy Trinity.
Inside, the stained glasses are the essential characteristic of the Savinoise church: the architect made of them the plans, the drawings and the gouaches. On one of the walls of the vault of winter, the not-figurative stained glasses refer with the Genesis: primitive chaos with the Creation of the Man. On the other wall, which is next to the nave of the church, the niches of the Apostles, hieratic, vis-a-vis the furnace bridge, and it is towards him that the figurative episodes of the Passion of the Christ converge, who is completed by the Light of Resurrection.
The baptistry is a recall of late Antiquity. It is a round construction being next to the church, with which it communicates close to the furnace bridge of the Virgin. Outside is out of stones of Queyras, the interior in blue molten glass. With the bell-tower one finds among the bells, the old bells, of which that of the church of the district and hamlet of the Vault, known as of XIIIè century. Witness of Art and History, the church of Savine the Lake, christo-centric, falls under a religious and artistic movement whose one has other examples. It is the monument more visited Commune.
A room of the treasure was arranged in which one can admire several parts registered with the departmental inventory including two tables: worship of the Shepherds and Worship of the Magi.
