Savignac-les-Ormeaux
Savignac-les-Ormeaux is a common French, located in the department of the Ariège and the area the Midday-Pyrenees. Its inhabitants is called Savignacois.
Geography
Savignac-les-Ormeaux is located at the South of the department of Ariège, close to the river of the same name. The village is to 2 km of Ax-the-Thermal baths, the place chief of canton and to 35 km of the border with Andorra.
History
The village was founded at the 5th century before JC by the Italos-Celts then Ibères. The name is besides of origin Celtic since save=rivière and gnac=village.The Moors then occupied the village from 730 to 778 a. JC, then were replaced by the Francs.
To the Middle Ages, Savignac belonged to the County of Carcassonne, until 1034.
In 927, the seigneuriaux rights are given to the lord abbot of the Saint-Volusien Abbey of Foix.
