Saverio Bettinelli
Saverio Bettinelli ( Xavier Bettinelli ) (born the July 18th 1718 with Mantoue, in Lombardy - died the September 13rd 1808) was a monk Italian Jésuite 18th century, which was also a writer.
Biography
Saverio Bettinelli entered to the Jésuite S, taught the humanities with Brescia and Venice, directed the college of noble to Parma, travelled in Italy, Germany, France, and visited Voltaire with the Délices .
At the end of its life, it gave a complete edition of its clean Œuvres , Venice, 1801, 24 volumes in-12; they contain:
- of the philosophical Speeches , forming a course of religious morals;
- of the Dialogs on the Love ;
- of the various Poetries , of which Jonathas (1771).
Its Lettres of Virgile where he speaks about Dante Alighieri with freedom was translated stalemate Mr. of Pommereul.
Like Voltaire, which it had taken for model, Bettinelli was strong liberal and large in favor of the tolerance.
