Saturnie of the oak of Japan

The saturnie of the oak of Japan is a Lépidoptère pertaining to Saturniidae.

The species was introduced in France by Felix Edouard Guerin-Méneville (1799-1874) in 1855 like the Silkworm Tussah ( Antheraea pernyi ) and the Bombyx of the ailante ( Samia cynthia ) in order to find a species able to replace the Silkworm reaches Pébrine then.
