Satoshi Miyazaki

Satoshi Miyazaki , born the June 17th 1938 in a small village of the prefecture of Saga (Kyūshū islands, Japan), and deceased May 31st 1993 in Belgium.

Childhood

It is in a small village of the Préfecture of Saga, located at the North-West of the island of Kyūshū in the south of the Japan, which Miyazaki the June 17th 1938 was born Satoshi.

Teenager, it was interested in martial arts and more precisely in the judo. But very quickly, it was directed towards the karate which fascinated it. It made its beginning in a school of Gōjū-ryū, a traditional karate with the strong sino-okinawaïennes influences. At the end of its secondary studies, it passed its black belt in front of Mahatokai Master.

University

He was noticed by the " Japan Karate Association " who, thanks to a financial support, allowed him into 1958 to join the university of Takushoku to Tokyo. There, Miyazaki belonged to the team of karate and was involved by Master Masatoshi Nakayama in person, founder of the JKA. And in spite of the intensive drives morning, midday and evening, Satoshi a license in economic scenes obtained.

At the university, Satoshi Miyazaki learned the Shotokan, modern karate rested by Master Gichin Funakoshi. It given its white belt and started again its training with zero. At its sides, it had team-members like Asano, Kisaka, Ochi and Tabata. Units, they were first with the championship of Japan by teams. With personal capacity, Satoshi was classified invariably among the elite.

After the university, in the beginning of the year sixty, Miyazaki joined the JKA to become instructor. Again, it begun again its white belt.

Belgium

It is at the end of 1967 that main Miyazaki was sent by the JKA in Europe to the sides of the Masters Enoeda, Shirai, Kase and Kanazawa to promote the shotokan. He became the instructor chief for Belgium.

If the other large-Masters held the front of the scene, main Miyazaki, of a frail and erased pace, remained discrete. It was however a frightening adversary, even against competitors larger, heavier or more powerful than him thanks to an incredible direction of anticipation.

Those which knew it said of Miyazaki Master that it was the illustration even of the five essential characteristics of the karate expert, namely modesty, honesty, the courtesy, the courage and self-control. It moreover was equipped with a very great generosity, not hesitating to finance the national team over her own sums of money.

Its teaching was hard and intense. He was a large follower of the " kihon" and made inlassablement repeat the various movements with its pupils. He attached much importance to the details of the gesture and the precision of the technique. For him, education and karate did only one. Its " kata" preferred were " Kanku-Sho" and " Empi".

It is the May 31st 1993 which Miyazaki Senseï left us, carried by a long illness. He fought courageously during several years without letting show through the least suffering. But this time, it did not leave victorious this combat.
