Satoshi Kon (in Japanese 今敏, Kon Satoshi ) is realizer and Mangaka Japan board originating in Hokkaido. Born the October 12th 1963, it makes its beginnings like mangaka in 1985 in the review Young Magazine , but its career starts especially in 1990 whereas it publishes his first Manga Kaikisen and takes part in the production of the film Roujin Z of Katsuhiro Otomo. In 1991 it publishes a second manga, World apartment horror . The following year he works on Memories , another film of Katsuhiro Otomo. In the following years, it continues to work on certain projects of animation and publishes some mangas in magazines.

It carries out its first Cartoon film in 1997, Perfect Blue , drawn from a novel of Yoshikazu Takeuchi. It puts in scene a young idol pop which decides to reorientate its career towards the cinema and the Télévision. Difficult to say some more on the history without revealing the surprises of them. Satoshi Kon constantly puts the doubt in the spirit of the spectator who, at a certain time, cannot distinguish the fiction any more from reality.

This opposition between fiction and reality is besides the main theme of its second film, left in 2002, Millennium actress ( Sennen joyuu ). This film tells in an original way the life of large a Actrice of cinema having mysteriously stopped its career whereas it was with her apogee. The scenes of cinema having marked its career intersect with the events which really influenced its life.

In 2003, Satoshi Kon carries out its third film, Tokyo godfathers , of which the main characters are three homeless people in Tokyo which, the Christmas day before, finds a baby given up in the refuse and decides to find his/her parents.

The following year it carries out first televised series of 13 episodes. Paranoia agent ( Mousou dairinin ) joins again with the famous topic fiction-reality, more or less forsaken in Tokyo Godfathers . Each episode of this series, at the same time dark and amusing, differs from the others.
