Sasquatch

Sasquatch , word of Amerindian origin which indicates a mythical being also called Bigfoot (large foot) in English, because of his big size and of the gigantic prints that it leaves after its passage.

Presentation and genesis of the myth

The existence of the Sasquatch rests on few serious scientific evidence and no specimen could be officially captured. If there exists, it would be of a Humanoïde or a Primate very near to the Yéti, but living with the Canada like with the the United States. It would be distributed mainly in the large chains of mountains (Adirondak, Rocheuses, the Appalachian Mountains,…) very wooded and in slightly populated areas. The most traces of Bigfoot concentrate in the north of California. It is in this area that starting from 1958 several traces of step were found. The town of Willow Creek in California organizes each year a large parade in the honor of the legendary animal. In 1967, some Roger Patterson and a companion carried out in a Canyon California N a film of a creature which would be Sasquatch. The supposed creature is held upright, of long arms and a hairy skin. Some affirm that there would be no faking on this video. R.Patterson died by carrying its secrecy but a Hollywoodien actor of very big size, near to Patterson affirmed since to have been the author of trickery with the complicity of Patterson and a great name of the special effects of the time for the studios. Nevertheless the existence of the " Sasquatch" remain a enigma…

Habitat

If there exists, Sasquatch lives in tribes in the middle of the Northern forest, i.e. one of the zones the least explored by the human being. The northern forest represents the vastest forest zone of the Canada. A light confusion of conceptualization surrounds name of “northern forest” because this term is distinguished in Canada from the “Taïga”; taïga representing for this country “the northern edge of the boreal Forest coniférienne”. For Canada, “the northern forest indicates the 310 million hectares of forest which are located within the limits of the 545 million hectares of the boreal Région”. According to this same Canadian definition, “the northern forest of Canada belongs to a circumpolar band of forests primarily made up of coniferous and girdling the subarctic zones of the northern Hemisphere, in Russia, Scandinavia and North America”.

A possible ancestor for an improbable creature

According to some anthropologists, Sasquatch exists and would have like ancestor the Gigantopithèque. The Gigantopithèque , or Gigantopithecus (in Greek: monkey (hominidé) giant) is a disappeared primate which lived Miocène higher than the average Pléistocène. Certain researchers allot a size of three meters to him what would make of him largest anthropoïde having ever existed; it would have weighed then between 300 and 550 kg. However, it is difficult to come to a conclusion in an unquestionable way about its size and its weight, since until now all that we have of him are fragments of Mâchoire and Dent S, but these elements exceeds in the face what we see at the current anthropoïdes. Until now, one found of them remainders in the south of the China, in the north of the India of North, and also with the Pakistan. One supposes that they nourished Bamboo, since one found some Fossile S near Panda S fossils, which lets accept the presence of great extents of bamboo, moreover the teeth of big size and powerful the jaws were made to crush a vegetable food coriace.

A modern legend

The research of the existence of Sasquatch comes under the field of the Cryptozoologie. There is not enough direct traces of his existence, just of the indirect traces like excrements, corpses of animals killed in a manner not corresponding to that of their natural predator or of enormous prints of step left in the ground. Visual testimonys of the animal are not rare however: they emanate from many campers or hunters.

One knows several jokers having made factitious traces of foot: it is relatively easy to increase the moulding of a human silicone print

Many times, inhabitants of the areas of Canada (in the North-West) affirmed to have seen Sasquatch, and recovered tufts of hairs in bushes. With Teslin, after an analysis DNA, Dr. David Coltman of the Université of Alberta announced thereafter that they were hairs of Bison. Jerold Mr. LOWENSTEIN, as for him, rélaisé many times the biochemical analysis which revealed the relationship with the higher primates. The detractors of the theory of the existence of Sasquatch affirm that the geographical surface concerned is well too vast. To ensure its survival, a species needs hundreds, if not thousands of individuals.
