Geography
Located on the banks of the River Saskatchewan-south, Saskatoon is the city of the bridges. History of the town of Saskatoon
The town of Saskatoon was founded in 1883 by colonists coming from the provinces more in the east of the Canada. The charter of the creation of the city was obtained in 1903 and its name comes from the expression misâskwatômina (" bays of Shadbush ") in language shouts. Before the foundation of the city itself, the area was already inhabited, the oldest traces of civilization going back to approximately 6000 years. Saskatoon acquired the statute of city on May 26th, 1906.
