Sarrewerden

Sarrewerden is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace. March 1st, 1972, the commune amalgamates with the Bischtroff-on-Saar and Zollingen.

Personalities related to the commune

Friedrich III. von Saarwerden , archbishop of Cologne of 1370 to 1414, born in 1348 in Sarrewerden and deceased on April 9th, 1414 with the castle of Poppelsdorf (currently a district of Bonn). Its nephew Dietrich II. von Moers succeeded to him. With died of his/her brother Heinrich II. in 1397, Friedrich III. the County of Sarrewerden had directed temporarily before yielding the government of it to Friedrich von Moers.
