Sarocchi Benedettu , singer originating in the village of Rusiu in Haute-Corse (Rusio) which was already illustrated within other famous Corsican groups (Victoire of the music in 1995 with the group Voce di Corsica), joined together around him a vocal ensemble and instrumental proposing a repertory of a rare authenticity.
This training of five singers musicians interprets monodies often accompanied by traditional instruments of which will cetera it, but also instrumental parts as well as polyphonic songs. All these interpreters, of which some know each other since childhood, are animated by a common passion for the Corsican traditional music.
The step of Sarocchi was initially to try to make revive pieces of music which were likely to sink in the lapse of memory then, in the second time, to make share a Corsican traditional music often ignored, with the various aspects, which could not be summarized only with the polyphony, by emphasizing its universal and timeless aspect in order to center the Corsican song in its reality. Obviously, this search for authenticity generated at Sarocchi a its sometimes astonishing original of modernity.
The repertory of Sarocchi comes primarily from three sources: initially of musical funds recorded during these five last decades, in addition of recorded personal collectings or simply learned from word of mount; finally on the one hand of creations or personal adaptations which remain in a traditional spirit. This repertory includes religious and profane polyphonies, festive lamenti, lovesongs, songs and airs of music to be danced.
