The sardo-modicana is a bovine race Italian.
Origin
It is resulting from the crossing between the races Sarda and Modicana; it thus belongs to the ancient branch of the brown Rameau. It comes from Sardinia. Its herd book goes back to 1985, and it was registered the same year on the register of the races with weak manpower. It is a race which is not diffused out of its area. Manpower, in 2002, relates to approximately 1350 cows and 78 bulls in 2002.Morphology
It wears a dark red dress. The ends are darker. (turn of the eyes, ears, boor, whip of the tail…) The horns are in quadrant upwards.C' is a race of intermediate size and light. The cow measures 135 cm with the garrot for 525 kg, and the bull 140 cm for 600 kg.
Aptitudes
It is a dairy classified race.La race is rustic, ready to be nourished in arid region with various plants. In Sardinia, the breeding occupies the unsuitable zone with the cultures.
